What Hatha Entails

Hatha is the root of modern posture practice: one pose at a time, held long enough to understand. Nothing flies, nothing rushes. You learn where your feet are, where your breath goes, and how the two talk to each other.

Elena's sunrise sessions are famous beyond our street — sixty minutes that regulars describe as "stronger than coffee, kinder than tea."

What a Class Holds

  • Seated breath awareness to arrive and settle
  • Foundational standing poses with step-by-step alignment
  • Balance and gentle backbends, always with wall options
  • Guided relaxation and a two-minute seated meditation
  • Complimentary ginger tea in the garden after class

Levels & Rhythm

Hatha is our recommended starting point for anyone new to yoga, returning after years away, or rebuilding after injury. The eight-week beginners' course runs every other month; drop-ins are welcome in all open classes and the teacher always offers three versions of every pose.

When we practise

  • Sunrise Hatha: Tuesday & Thursday at 06:30
  • Hatha Basics: Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 12:15
  • Eight-week beginners' course: next intake announced on the events page
I've never done yoga. Where do I start?

Right here. Arrive ten minutes early, tell Elena it's your first time, and take the simplest option each time — nobody is watching.

Is Hatha a workout?

It's a mild-to-moderate physical practice with a strong calming effect. If you want sweat, try Astanga; if you want sleep, try restorative.

Can I practise while pregnant?

Yes, with modifications — mention it at booking so we can prepare props, and check with your midwife first.
